Die folgende Auflistung nennt die wichtigste Literatur, die bei der Erstellung dieser Seiten hier benutzt wurde.
Ein für die Betrachtung der Schiffe der Constitution-Klasse wohl kaum verzichtbares Buch ist Donald Canneys "Sailing Warhips". Nach wie vor wichtig, obgleich der Leser oft mit unbelegten Thesen konfrontiert wird, ist Howard Chapelles "History of the American Sailing Navy" (1949). Eine gute Konstrastlektüre dazu ist das zuerst genannte Buch. Karl Heinz Marquardt bietet in senem Band über die Constitution einen guten historischen Überblick. Die zeichnerische Rekonstruktion des Schiffs beinhaltet viele interessante Aspekte, ist aber, wie der Autor auch betont, nicht ultimativ und in vielen Punkten zu diskutieren. Die detaillierte Geschichte der Constitution wird von T. G. Martin, einem ehemaligen Kommandanten des Schifffs in den 1970er Jahren, in "A most fortunate ship" sehr gut lesbar dargestellt. Obwohl über den Bau und die ursprüngliche Konstuktion der Fregatte in diesem Buch nicht sehr viel gesagt wird, enthält das Buch sehr wichtige Hinweise zu Umbauten und Änderungen der Ausrüstung.
